Champagne Chartogne-Taillet Brut Rosé N/V N/V

8,36000

The NV (2008) Brut Rose impresses for its depth and round, sensual personality. Layers of fruit caress the palate in this deep, resonant Rose. This is a fairly straightforward wine for Chartogne-Taillet, but it is impossible not to love the pure vinosity and purity of the fruit. The Rose is 60% Chardonnay, 25% Pinot Noir and 15% still Pinot. Disgorgement date: August 2012 Anticipated maturity: 2012-2015.

• Today Chartogne-Taillet is the only Growers in the village. The first document showing vinegrowing activity by the Taillet family in the village of Merfy dates from 1683.
• In Merfy, unusually, clay and sand are over the chalk.
• The oldest vines are over 55 years and ungrafted
• Each parcel is vinified separately, and fermentation is largely in stainless steel tanks, although an increasing number to wines are being made in secondhand barriques. No malolactic, no fining, no filtration.
