Description
• This is the pioneering wine of the Franciacorta appellation created by maverick wine maker Maurizio Zanella about 50 years ago.
Franciacorta is made by the traditional method with secondary fermentation in the bottle. The average quality of Franciacorta, a much smaller appellation than Champagne, is regarded as better than the latter. Whilst Champagne is made from three grape varietals, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and the lesser Pinot Meunier, the third varietal in the case of Franciacorta is the nobler Pinot Bianco.
• The uniqueness of its environment and the manic attention to the smallest of details by Maurizio Zanella makes this the Ferrari of the sparkling wine world.
